- Check each page, then select Download redacted PDF.
Questions
Is the text really removed?
Yes. Each page with a redaction is redrawn as a picture with the black boxes painted in, and the file is rebuilt, so the original text on those pages isn’t in it any more.
What else changes?
Text on redacted pages can no longer be selected or searched. Links, comments and form fields are removed from every page, and so are the document’s properties and bookmarks. Other pages are copied as they are.
When should I turn every page into a picture?
When you need to be certain nothing else is left, such as hidden layers or content shared between pages. The file will be larger.
Why wasn’t some text found?
Scanned pages are pictures with no text to search, and some PDFs split words oddly. Always check each page, and mark anything missed by hand.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device.
