Questions

How is the file protected?

With AES-256-GCM. The key is made from your password with PBKDF2-SHA-256 and 600,000 iterations.

What if I forget the password?

The file cannot be recovered. There is no reset.

Is the file name hidden?

The original name is stored inside the encryption. Tick "Hide the file name" to also give the encrypted file a generic name.

Can it open files from the old Safe File tool?

Yes. Files made with marcusmichaels.com/safe-file decrypt here too.
