Questions
What quality should I use?
0.75 to 0.85 is a good balance for photos. Lower makes smaller files with more visible loss.
Why did my PNG not get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so re-saving rarely helps. Choose WebP or JPG as the output format for a much smaller file.
What if the result is bigger than the original?
The original is kept, and marked as unchanged.
Which formats can I compress?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, ICO, TGA, QOI, PPM/PGM/PBM and SVG. Formats other than JPG, PNG and WebP are saved as WebP unless you choose another format.
